Cherrylion Studios specializes in fine art sculpture commissions for public and corporate clients and for private collectors. Over the past 40 years, the studio has produced hundreds of commissions, including more than 30 large scale public art installations.
Martin Dawe and his apprentices provide strong expertise in concept, design, sculpting, mold making, casting, and implementation. From over life-sized bronze figures to intimate impressionistic bas reliefs, Cherrylion has built a reputation for quality and innovation. The studio has developed a unique place in the art world that bridges fine art and commercial art.
Martin Dawe is a sculptor who works primarily as a commissioned artist in a variety of mediums. Marty is well known for his figurative and representational work, which ranges from loose, impressionist work, to traditional sculptures with a late 19th-century style. Marty began his own custom sculpture studio in 1987 and incorporated as Cherrylion Studios in 1994. He is also well known for collaborating with his clients and for him, this is one of the most fulfilling parts of his job. Today Cherrylion Studios is the largest custom figurative sculpture studio in Georgia. All of Cherrylion’s work is on a commission basis and the studio is not represented by a gallery.
Martin was born in Johannesburg, South Africa. The family moved to the United States when he was a child and he grew up in Maplewood, New Jersey, ten miles from Manhattan. He studied at Boston University School of Fine Arts and received a Bachelor’s of Fine Arts in Sculpture from Georgia State University. He apprenticed for 8 years under Julian Harris, a distinguished sculptor, medalist, and Georgia Tech professor emeritus of architecture.
